Are you ready for some acronyms? Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) are increasingly being detected at low levels in surface water, and these compounds may have an impact on aquatic life as well as human health. Of particular concern are chemicals that originate in Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PCPPs).
In this happy hour workshop with environmental scientists and educators Katrina Kessler and Summer Streets from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), we'll learn about CECs, PCPPs, and the role of agencies like the MPCA. We'll also learn how to reduce our chemical footprint using Do-it-yourself (DIY) household cleaners and personal care products made from simple, non-toxic ingredients.
We'll have samples and recipes on hand to help you make affordable, non-toxic household cleaners and other personal products. Bring your own recipes and tips to share, or your questions about how the chemicals we use in our homes and bodies become part of our environment, and what we can do (individually and collectively) to have a positive impact.
