Hand dye a scarf that shows your love for the Mississippi River in this project-based workshop led by artist Sarah Nassif. In this three-hour workshop you’ll learn how natural indigo dye works, and how to create your own organic indigo vat at home! You’ll also learn how water is a part of cloth-making and dyeing processes—and how you can get involved in protecting water—as we incorporate water from the Mississippi River into our dye method. Practice folding and binding techniques to introduce patterns into your cloth, and dip dye your own summer scarf and/or bandana to take home.
The fee for this workshop is $50 plus an additional $10 for materials. This workshop is open to all, but children aged 14 or under must register with an adult. If you have any other questions, please let us know!
A Note About Photos Used Here: Pictures used to illustrate this workshop are from an earlier ‘Weaving Water’ studio night led by Sarah Nassif at Water Bar. Since this is the first time for this particular workshop, we do not have photos yet of the class or finished scarves — but will post pictures soon of examples, so you can see what you will be able to create.
