As we narrow in on our opening dates and plans, one thing we're working on is a plan to utilize the Water Bar & Public Studio space to showcase and sell artwork, prints, books, and other creative and practical objects that connect people to water, place, and environment.
We'll have plenty of wall space for showcasing posters or other visual artwork, and are open to working with other artists to create experimental or functional installations of other types on a temporary basis.
If you're an artist or designer who creates work on the themes of water, place, or environment (and in particular, if you live and work in Northeast Minneapolis or the Twin Cities) and you'd like us to consider sharing or selling your artwork through the Water Bar & Public Studio, send us an email with 1) your contact information and website, 2) a brief artist statement or note about your process and goals, and 3) image(s) or samples of your work. We will respond as we are able.
Right now, we're aiming for a public opening that coincides with Art-A-Whirl, an art crawl that brings thousands of people to our neighborhood. In addition to an open Water Bar and a program of environmental / art education and performances, we'd like to have the shop open and selling a variety of things, including things like water testing kits and resource guides.
